Computer Labs

The School of Management's three computer labs are all located on the third floor of the SMG building:
  • The Open Access Labs (rooms 328 and 340)
  • The Graduate Resource Center (GRC: room 316).
Both are open seven days a week throughout most of the calendar year and are accessible to students taking SMG or GSM classes (see the FAQ section below for hours of operation). Printing and scanning services are also available in these labs.

The Teaching Lab (room 314) is an excellent resource for in-class software instruction and can accommodate up to 30 attendees. This lab is available by reservation only and arrangements must be made ahead of time through ITS staff. Contact labs@management.bu.edu for dates of availability and then see our Teaching Lab Reservation Form (49k PDF) to submit a reservation request.

If you have questions about the SMG computer labs, e-mail helpdesk@management.bu.edu or call 617-353-9649 during Open Access Lab hours of operation.

All other black and white printing is 10 cents per page; color printing is $1.00 per page. The labs accept cash and Terrier Card 'convenience points'.

Students whose college is not SMG or GSM must pay for printing in the SMG labs. However, all BU students have a free print quota account for use in OIT's computer labs (111 Cummington Street). Print jobs cannot be sent between SMG and OIT labs.

Faculty and Staff are not given quotas, but can have their printing paid for with a departmental transfer of funds form. Contact helpdesk@managment.bu.edu for more details.

Can I ask for additional software to be installed?
Yes, but you must supply the software and the 31 licenses. Installation is subject to ITS approval. Further, we need to be given sufficient advance notice (at least 2 weeks). During this time we will review the software, test it and then install it on all the machines. This is to both insure proper installation of the software and to avoid possible conflicts with existing software on the machines.
