Technology Orientation at SMG

MBA Students

Welcome new MBA students! The steps below will enable you to "get connected" to the computing environment at the Graduate School of Management (GSM). Please be sure to follow the steps in the order listed below. Should you have any trouble with the process, please contact us through email at training@management.bu.edu or by calling 617-353-9858.

  1. STEP 1: Obtain your ACS Login (BU Email)
NOTE: It is critical that this be the first step you complete before activating or accessing any other computer logins or systems at the School.

ACS stands for "Academic Computing System." With an ACS login, you have access to a personal BU email address, the Student Link and many other online resources. You should have received an Early Bird Access notification enabling you to set up and use your ACS login (BU email). The ACS login provides you with a BU login name (this is the portion of your BU email address that precedes the @ sign) and a Kerberos password. You will use your BU login name as your username and your Kerberos password for access to most systems at GSM and BU. Therefore, it is essential that this be the first login you setup at the School.

If you did not receive an Early Bird Access notification please contact the Graduate Programs Office at 617-353-2673.

If you are experiencing difficulty setting up or using your Early Bird account, contact the Office of Information Technology directly at 617-353-2780.

  2. STEP 2: Activate your SMG Active Directory login (SMG Local Area Network)
IMPORTANT: you MUST have established your BU email address (see step 1 above) BEFORE activating your Active Directory login.
Click Here to complete the form to Activate Your Active Directory Login. Be certain to begin the process by clicking the "log in" button on the first page of the form.

If you experience difficulty using this form, please contact the ITS department at 617-353-9858.

  3. STEP 3: View the MBA technology orientation presentation
(Note: presentation duration is approximately 15 minutes)
Click Here to Start the Presentation

If you have trouble accessing the presentation, please contact the ITS department at 617-353-9858.
