Mapping Network Drives
Every student at SMG has access to several different network directories.
Follow these directions to map network directories to Drive
letters so you can access these directories from your computer
quickly and easily.
Click here for more information about these network directories. This
process must be performed while connected to the School of Management network.
- Open Windows Explorer. To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click
Windows Explorer.
- Under the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive.
- In the Map Network Drive box select "H:" from
the Drive drop-down box.
- In the Folder drop-down box type "
\\Smgshare\winapps".
- Check the box next to "Reconnect at logon". Now click Finish.
- Repeat this process so you have each of these Drive letters and Folders:
| Drive |
Folder |
| H: |
\\Smgshare\WINAPPS |
| Q: |
\\Smgshare\CLASSNOTES |
| S: |
\\Smgshare\STUDENTSHARE |
Although you can use any drive letter that you prefer, we strongly encourage you to use the drive letters specified here so that
your computer conforms with the rest of the computers in the SMG community.
Note: If you start up your laptop when it is not connected to the network, you
will get an error message stating that these mapped directories
could not be found. You will be prompted to continue to restore
connections. Click NO.
